LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - Seattle's Miguel Gonzalez scored both goals of the game four-minutes apart to hand UNLV a 2-0 setback on Friday night in WAC men's soccer action from Peter Johann Field.

The Rebels (3-9, 1-3) held the overall shot advantage for the game, 9-6 in the first half and 8-4 in the second for a 17-10 overall total. UNLV also had several more strong scoring chances, but came up just short on several crosses in front of the goal. Redhawk (4-8-2, 2-0-1) goalkeeper Jake Feener came up with two big saves to ensure the shutout, including a leaping save of a Kyle Mellies header midway through the second half that could have cut the deficit to just one.

Gonzalez's first goal came in the 33rd minute, as he collected a pass from Jonathan Massimino and quickly slotted a shot to the low left post from 20 yards out for a 1-0 lead. Seattle went up 2-0 in the 37th minute when Massimino won a scramble for the ball inside the box and sent a pass over to Gonzalez, who blasted in a shot from 15 yards out for the score. That put the Redhawks up 2-0, and it would end as the final result.

Corner kicks were at three for each team, while Seattle held a 5-2 edge on shots on goal. Rodrigo Fuentes' seven shots paced UNLV, while Salvador Bernal put up five on the night.

The Rebels continue their four-game homestand by welcoming San Jose State to Peter Johann Field on Sunday at 1 pm.
