LAS VEGAS - UNLV swimming had a successful evening with both the men's and women's teams' defeating BYU

The Rebel men defeated BYU by a score of 122-115. The Rebel women defeated BYU 146-90, but lost to UNR by a score of 127-109.

The men's meet was decided on the last race of the evening in the 200 medley relay by the team of David Schick, Piotr Kryzskow, Bobby Middleton and Garrett Wood with a winning time of 1:21.36. In the 50 free, Piotr Kryzskow was victorious with a time of 21.04. Garrett Wood and Michael Short tied for second in the 50 free with a time of 21.09. Michael Short was also victorious in the 200 fly with a time of 1:54.59 and in the 100 free with a time of 45.49. Michael Soria and Paul Valen finished first and second in the 1000 free with times of 9:37.70 for Soria and 9:39.96 for Valen. In the 200 free, Jacint Simon placed second with a time of 1:40.47 and Tommy Zauder placed fourth with a time of 1:43.97. In the 200 I.M. the Rebels finished second through fourth with David Schick placing second with a time of 1:54.35, Quinten Allen third with a time of 1:56.96 and Bobby Middleton fourth with a time of 1:58.03. In the 100 free, Laurens Vosloo placed third with a time of 47.13. In the 200 back, Andrew Kapchinske placed third with a time of 1:56.50. In the 500 free, Jacint Simon placed second with a time of 4:28.50 and Paul Valen placed third with a time of 4:42.03. In the 200 breast, Bobby Middleton was victorious with a winning time of 2:06.55.

The women split their two meets with a 146-90 victory over BYU and a loss to UNR by a score of 127-109. In the 200 medley relay, the Rebel women were victorious with a winning time of 1:46.79 by the team of Lindsey Whipple, Sabrina Ferrari, Madalina Tin and Lorena Diaconescu. In the 1000 free, Dana Penn placed third with a time of 10.31.05. In the 200 free, Lorena Diaconescu placed second with a time of 1:50.03 and Ashleigh Crowder placed third with a time of 1:55.91. In the 50 free, Kelly Goddard placed second with a time of 24.37. In the 200 I.M. Lindsey Whipple placed second with a time of 2:10.74 and Ericka Korb finished third with a time of 2:10.81. In the 200 fly, the Rebel women placed second through fourth with Dana Penn placing second with a time of 2:07.06, Whitney Phelps third with a time of 2:07.25 and Sabrina Ferrari fourth with a time of 2:10.90. Lorena Diaconescu was victorious in the 100 free with a winning time of 51.32. In the 200 back, Ashleigh Crowder was victorious with a time of 2:05.70 and Lindsey Whipple placed second with a time of 2:07.13. In the 500 free, Dana Penn placed third with a time of 5:06.86. In the 200 breast, Carrie Knopp was victorious with a time of 2:23.02. In the 400 free relay, the team consisting of Madalina Tin, Robin Lamp, Sabrina Ferrari and Ashleigh Crowder, were victorious with a time of 3:34.17.

The Rebels next home meet will be on Saturday, December 11, against Utah at 2:00 p.m.
