LAS VEGAS - Rebel swimming was in action this past Saturday as Arizona State and Arizona visited the Buchanan Natatorium for a non-conference double dual-meet. Arizona State defeated Arizona by a score of 355-354.5 and defeated UNLV by a score of 355-175.5.
In men's action, Arizona and Arizona State were close the whole way of the meet to the finish. Arizona State started off winning the first event of the meet (200 medley) and were able to hold on for the victory. The Rebels' Bobby Middleton placed first in the 100 breast with a time of 57.26. Jacint Simon finished second in the 200 fly with a time of 1:50.43 and second in the 500 free with a time of 4:31.81
In women's action, UNLV's Lorena Diaconescu fared well in the free events. She placed first in the 200 free with a time of 1:49.54. She placed second in the 50 free with a time of 24.16 and the 100 free with a time of 51.73
UNLV's next meet is November 5th and 6th when they travel to Irvine, CA to compete in the Big West Shootout. Their next home meet will be November 12th against Brigham Young University.
