LAS VEGAS - The Rebel swim team?s completed their second day of competition and sit in a comfortable position in the standings. After 14 events, UNLV placed in the top five in 10, along with top 10 finishes in the four others.

The men?s team captured first-place finishes in the 400 Medley Relay (3:21.16) and 200 Free Relay (1:22.80). Michael Short posted a lead off best time of 20.90 (50 Free) in the 200 Free Relay victory. David Schick timed a 52.01 in the lead off leg of the 400 Medley Relay win. Jacint Simon set a new school record in the 500 Free with a time of 4:23.80.

The women also saw plenty of success in the second day of competition. The Rebels placed second in the 200 Free Relay (1:36.41) and ended sixth in the 400 Medley Relay (3:39.22). Lorena Diaconescu swam a 24.00 (50 Free) in the lead off leg of the 200 Free Relay and also set a season best time in the 500 Free (4:52.49).

The Rebels will continue the action tomorrow beginning with preliminaries at 9am and finals at 5pm.
