Fresno, Calif. - Angie Fortner had her best time of the season at the Western Region Championship hosted by Fresno State.
Fortner turned in a time of 17:04 good enough for a sixth place finish. It was her sixth top ten finish and the first time all season she finished out of the top five. She recorded her best time of her career two weeks ago at the WAC Championships with a time of 17:10 and a second place finish.
The Rebels finished 13th overall with solid performances turned in by Sharlene Downing (18:40) and Denise Danielson (18:47). Other notables included Stephanie Davidson (19:09), Katie Barto (19:25), Kelly Squibb (19:57) and Paula Lechner (20:55).
Fortner is hoping to be the first Rebel in history to qualify for the NCAA championships.
