BOISE, Idaho - Jessica Marable saved her best throw of the season for Thursday's NCAA Championships as she set a school record with her throw of 52'02.75" en route to an eighth place finish in the shot put. She broke her own record of 51'02.75" which she accomplished at last year's NCAA Outdoor Championships. Seilala Sua of UCLA captured the title in the event with her throw of 57'09.00". Marable is also set to compete in the discus throw Saturday in Boise.
Marable is one of three UNLV athletes participating at the 1999 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Wednesday Alicia Tyson ran 23.61 and finished second in the fourth heat of the 200-meter dash prelims to advance to Friday's semifinal. Michelle Davis missed prelim cuts in the 200 with a sixth place finish (23.96) in her heat. Davis and Tyson also competed in Thursday's 400 meters and 100 meters, respectively. David ran 53.89 and Tyson 11.65 as both failed to move on to the next round of either event.
