LAS VEGAS - UNLV star outfielder Ryan Ludwick was chosen Wednesday in the second round of Major League Baseball's annual amateur draft.
Ludwick, a junior for the Hustlin' Rebels this year, was the 60th choice overall by the Oakland Athletics.
A Las Vegas native, Ludwick was named a Preseason First-Team All-American by Baseball America. He went on to hit .381 in a team-leading 61 games this spring. Ludwick also had 13 homeruns and 69 RBI as well as leading the squad in slugging percentage at .657.
Ludwick's older brother, Eric, played at UNLV in 1993 and is currently a pitcher in the Florida Marlins organization.
