Feb. 28, 1998 LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Freshman Danny Erez won in three sets at the No. 5 singles spot for the deciding point as the 41st-ranked UNLV men's tennis team nipped 52nd-ranked Brigham Young, 4-3, Saturday at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
The Rebels improved to 4-1 and 1-0 in the WAC while the Cougars dropped to 4-4 and 1-2 in the WAC.
BYU opened the day by winning two of three doubles matches to earn one point. UNLV, however, won three of the first five singles matches to draw even. Erez, who was 2-2 in his collegiate career coming into the match, then won 7-5, 4-6, 6-2, over Nick Losee to give the Rebels their fourth-straight team victory.
Also winning for UNLV was 55th-ranked Asaf Tishler, Nenad Zickovic and Damu Bobb.
The Rebels are off until traveling to the HEB Invitational in Corpus Christi, Texas, on March 6-8.
