March 20, 1998

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The 38th-ranked UNLV men's tennis team lost the decisive doubles point and fell to No. 17 Kansas 4-3 during the second day of the Blue-Gray Invitational Friday.

The Rebels (8-5) were only able to win one of three matches as the Jayhawks took the doubles point. UNLV's Asaf Tishler and Danny Erez improved to 10-0 this spring by defeating Kenny Powell and Xavier Avila in the second spot.

The teams then split singles play. Tishler, ranked 71st, won his fifth-straight match by upsetting No. 36 Enrique Abaroa at the top spot. Damu Bobb won in three sets at the third spot and Gregor Skorin won in straight sets in the fifth position.

The Rebels continue play in the 16-team tournament through Sunday.
