April 22, 1998TULSA, Okla. - Fourth-seeded UNLV won all three completed singles matches en route to a 4-0 whitewashing of 13th-seeded Hawaii in the first round of the WAC Men's Tennis Championship hosted by the University of Tulsa Wednesday.
The Rebels (11-9, 4-3 in the WAC), opened the day by taking both completed doubles matches for one team point. UNLV then got straight-set singles wins from Nenad Zivkovic, Damu Bobb and Danny Erez to clinch the victory. Three other singles matches were then cancelled with Rebel players leading. The Rainbows finished their season 9-9 and 0-2 in the league.
UNLV, which had to face UH after not earning one of three first-round byes in the tournament, will play fifth seed and defending WAC champion Texas Christian on Thursday. The Horned Frogs were a 4-1 winner over 12th seed Air Force.
