LAS VEGAS - The Rebel men's and women's swimming and diving teams were back in action today against conference foe Wyoming at the Buchanan Natatorium on the UNLV campus. Both the men's and the women's teams won their respective meets as the men cruised to a 190-103 victory and the women finished with a score of 177-115.
In men's action, the Rebels were led by Erik Scalise and Michael Rosen's two victories a piece. Rosen captured both the 200 free (1:42.13) and the 500 free (4:34.51) while Scalise took first place in the 100 back (52.22) and the 400 IM (3:59.60). A newcomer to the team in January, Simon Jacint of Hungary, captured the 100 free with his time of 47.20.
The women also swam well as freshman Dana Penn and Ericka Korb both picked up two wins in their respective events. Penn clocked times of 2:06.66 in the 200 fly and 4:34.63 in the 400 IM to win her events, while Korb continues to dominate in the breaststroke taking both the 100 (1:05.20) and the 200 (2:21.44) events.
UNLV returns to action on Sunday as the Rebels face top-10 competition when California comes to Buchanan Natatorium. The dual meet begins at 4:00pm.
