April 7, 1998LOS ANGELES - The 40th-ranked UNLV men's tennis team won only two of six singles matches and fell to 9th-ranked Southern California 5-2 at Marks Tennis Stadium Tuesday.
The Trojans (14-5) opened the day by sweeping doubles for one team point. The Rebels (10-8) then fell at the top three singles spots, including 35th-ranked Asaf Tishler losing to 26th-ranked George Bastl in three sets.
Winning for UNLV were Danny Erez, 4-6, 7-6, 7-5, in an upset over 88th-ranked Kyle Spencer at the fourth position and Brandon Fallon, 6-4, 6-4, over Christoph Poehler at the sixth spot. UNLV next takes on No. 10 Pepperdine on Thursday in Malibu, Calif.
