Las Vegas - The UNLV women's cross country team and senior Angie Fortner were named to the Women's Intercollegiate Cross Country Coaches Association 1998 Women's Academic All-American Division I Team.

The Rebels achieved a 3.01 GPA last semester. A total of 95 of the 308 Division I teams met the qualifying standard. Fortner earned individual All-American honors achieving a 3.67 GPA last semester. The senior from Sea-Tac, Washington is majoring in sport injury management.
