April 18, 1998SAN DIEGO - The 42nd-ranked UNLV women's tennis team lost all three of its doubles matches to allow No. 35 San Diego to come back for a 5-4 home victory Saturday.
The Lady Rebels, who fell to 8-10 overall, won four of six singles points to take a commanding lead. However, the Toreros, who improved to 9-7, won the final three points to take the match.
UNLV got victories from Susie Kocsis, Veronica Goude, Britta Gabl and Marcella Valkenhoff to go up 4-2.
After UNLV's first and third doubles teams each lost 8-2, the match came down to the second position. Lisa Annebro and Gabl built a 6-5 lead but the team of Mirja Wallmark and Tasha Jackson won the final three points for an 8-6 decision.
The Lady Rebels close out their regular-season schedule on Sunday with a key match at WAC rival and 27th-ranked San Diego State.
