Flagstaff, Ariz. - The UNLV women's track and field team opened up its 1999 indoor track and field season at the Northern Arizona Invitational on Saturday.
The Rebels had four competitors to finish first in their respective events. Sophomore Jessica Marable took first in the shot put and made NCAA provisional qualifying standards with a throw of 47'-10.50. Marable had a third place throw of 39'00.25 in the 20-lb weight toss.
Senior Alicia Tyson took the top spot in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.50. Eulista Clemons won the 400-meter dash with a time of 58.38. Paula Lechner took fourth, turning in a time of 1:01.83.
Laren Parker turned in a solid performance, taking first place in the triple jump (33'11.50) and second in the long jump (17'08.75). Theresa Glassman took second in the triple jump with a mark of 33'09.50.
Heather Steadham had a good showing, placing third in the high jump (4'11), third in the 60-meter hurdles (9.71) and fourth in the long jump (17'05.50).
The Rebels travel to Reno on January 23 to compete in the Silver State Invitational.
