LAS VEGAS - San Diego State's Alex Waske won the singles championship while a duo from Utah earned the doubles title at the 1998 ITA Regional Championships played at the Fertitta Tennis Complex Sunday.

Waske, seeded first, began the day by defeating fourth-seeded Pepe Caballero of New Mexico, 6-2, 6-2 in the semifinals. He then took care of Rob Cheyne of Fresno State, 6-3, 7-5 in the final.

In doubles, fourth-seeded Phil Rodrigue and Ben Coates of Utah defeated the second-seeded team of Caballero and partner Nicolas Dubey 6-3, 6-3.

In consolation play, UNLV's Tyler Roberts lost to Rene Ramirez of Air Force 6-3, 6-4.
