April 27, 1998

LAS VEGAS - UNLV junior Asaf Tishler was one of six players named to the 1998 First-Team All-Western Athletic Conference men's tennis squad determined through a vote by league head coaches.

Tishler, currently ranked No. 43 in the nation in singles, is 21-11 on the year. He was named Second-Team All-WAC in doubles last season.

The Rebels, ranked 35th, lost in the second round of last week's WAC championship, which top-seeded SMU captured Saturday with a 4-3 win over San Diego State.

TCU's Esteban Carrill was named WAC Player of the Year as well as Freshman of the Year. SMU coach Carl Neufeld earned Coach of the Year honors.
