LAS VEGAS - UNLV senior Asaf Tishler was one of six players named to the 1999 First-Team All-Western Athletic Conference men's tennis squad determined through a vote by league head coaches.
Tishler, currently ranked No. 19 in the nation in singles, is 20-7 on the year. A native of Tel Aviv, Israel, Tishler joins three other repeat performers on the top squad: Esteban Carril of TCU, Ignacio Hirogoyen of SMU and Alex Waske of San Diego State.
The Rebels, ranked 53rd, lost in the semifinals of last week's WAC championship, which Fresno State captured with a 4-3 win over top-seeded SMU.
TCU's Esteban Carril was named WAC Player of the Year for the second straight year while Gert Vilsm of BYU was tabbed the league's Freshman of the Year. Fresno State coach Michael Hegarty earned Coach of the Year honors.
