BALTIMORE, Md. - Both of UNLV's singles entries lost in the first round of the main draw at the 1998 T. Rowe Price National Clay Court Championships held at the Suburban Racquet Club Thursday.
Unseeded Asaf Tishler fell to second-seeded Pancho Rodriguez of Alabama, 7-6, 6-3. Tishler rebounded in the consolation bracket, however, winning 3-6, 6-4, 7-6 over Doug Bahaboy of Northwestern.
Also, Nenad Zivkovic lost both of his matches and was eliminated. The sophomore fell 7-6, 6-2 to Adam Seri of Georgia in the main draw and then lost to James Shortall of Mississippi, 7-6, 4-6, 6-3, in consolation play.
Both doubles teams had their matches postponed because of darkness and will complete their first-round play Friday. The tournament runs through Sunday.
