SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The UNLV doubles team of Susie Kocsis and Gee Gee Garvin made a quick exit from the NCAA Doubles Championship with a straight-set loss Monday on the campus of Notre Dame.
The 16th-ranked duo fell in the first round, 6-1, 6-1, to third-seeded Cristina Moros and Sandy Sureephong of Texas.
It was the second-consecutive first-round loss for Garvin, a sophomore who played in last year's event with former Lady Rebel Marianne Vallin. UNLV has never won a doubles match at the national championship tournament in four attempts.
Kocsis and Garvin, who set a school record with a national ranking of No. 4 last fall, finished the season at 16-11.
UNLV's only men's post-season representative, junior Asaf Tishler, begins play in the NCAA Singles Championship on Wednesday in Athens, Ga.
