IRVINE, Calif. - UNLV players won all six of their matches at the first day of the 1998 UC Irvine Blue/Gold Fall Women's Invitational head at the UCI Tennis Stadium Thursday.

In the main draw of singles, Lady Rebel Marianne Bakken defeated Laura Gross of Loyola Marymount, 6-4, 4-6, 6-4; Susie Kocsis downed Theresa Kain of Point Loma, 6-7, 6-0, 6-1; Britta Gabl beat Hilli Freudenberg of Loyola Marymount 6-1, 6-1; and Marcella Valkenhoff swept Torey Pratt of UC Santa Barbara 7-6, 6-2.

In doubles play, Gabl and Bakken teamed to defeat Shannon Wilkins and Deborah Pepkowitz of UCSB, 8-4, while Kocsis and Valkenhoff downed Julie Chidley and Regina Alvarado of San Diego State, 8-5.

The tournament runs through Sunday.
