LAS VEGAS - UNLV track & field athlete Michele Davis will compete in the Junior Pan Am Meet in Tampa, Fla., on Friday-Sunday, July 9-11.

Davis, who was the 1999 WAC Freshman of the Year, competed in the U.S.A. Track & Field Jr. National Championships in Denton, Texas, on June 19-20. She placed second in the 400 meters with a time of 53.28. That time enabled her to advance to Tampa this weekend.

Davis, from Lansing, Mich., enjoyed an outstanding freshman season at UNLV under head coach Karen Dennis, who is also the head coach of the U.S.A. Women's Track & Field team which will compete in Sydney in 2000. Her time of 52.75 in the 400 meters was good for a first place finish at the WAC Championships. She qualified for the NCAA Championships which was held in Boise, Idaho on June 2-5.
