LAS VEGAS - The UNLV men's and women's teams will host a triple-dual meet on Saturday at 12pm in the Buchanan Natatorium.
This will be the final home stand of the year for Rebels in their preparation for the MWC Championships, February 16-19. The men's team will face off against conference rival Air Force while the women battle division foe, San Diego State and WAC member Fresno State.
The women's team comes off victories over UC Santa Barbara (189-101) and the University of San Diego (188-75) during last weekend's meet hosted by the Gauchos. Dana Penn (Plano, Tx.) had stellar performances for the Rebels, winning the 1000 Free (10:19.92), 200 Fly (2:04.00), and the 400 IM (4:28.74). She also set season bests in each event.
The men's team was edged by the Gauchos last weekend, 133-128. Michael Short (San Jose, Ca.) provided the Rebels with a spark by taking firsts in the 50 Free (21.05) and 100 Free (45.99). He also was an integral part of the winning 200 R-Free team (1:23.29).
Penn and Short have been nominated MWC Swimmer's of the Week by UNLV Head Coach Jim Reitz.
