LINCOLN, NE - After the first session of competition at the Husker Shootout held at the Bob Devaney Sports Center Pool on the campus of the University of Nebraska, the UNLV men's team holds a slim two-point lead over the Huskers, 116-114. Kenyon sits in third with 89 points.
The UNLV women's team is currently holding third place with 90 points. Host Nebraska is in first place with 122 points, while Nevada, Reno currently sits second with 112 points.
Alyson Nobel and Jacint Simon both finished second in the 1000 free with times of 10:16.28 and 9:36.16, respectively.
The women's 200 free relay team of Lorena Diaconescu, Kelly Goddard, Sabrina Ferrari and Madelina Tin finished third in 1:37.99, while the men's team of Michael Short, Piotr Kryzskow, Tommy Zauder and Laurens Vosloo finished second in 1:24.25.
Simon and Diaconescu each won the 500 free in times of 4:31.63 and 4:53.87 respectively.
Nebraska dominated the women's 200 IM, taking first and second place. Lindsey Whipple took third place in a time of 2:10.68.
David Schick finished fourth for the men in the 200 IM in 1:56.84.
Piotr Kryzskow took first in the men's 50 free (20.55), while Madalina Tin finished fourth in the women's 50 free (24.49).
The day was capped with the 400 medley relay, in which the women's team of Megan Merchant, Sabrina Ferrari, Madalina Tin and Lorena Diaconescu finished second in a time of 3:54.35.
The men's team of David Schick, Andrew Livingston, Quincy Schmidt and Piotr Kryzskow won the event with a time of 3:23.27.
Lucas Richmond was the only Rebel diver to score in the 3-meter competition. He placed third with 405.85 points.
