LA QUINTA, Calif. - Former UNLV golf star Jeremy Anderson was one of only five collegiate All-Americans from last season to earn his tour card following his 11th-place overall finish at the Professional Golf Association's Q-School, the qualifying tournament for the right to play on the PGA Tour.
Anderson, a four-year letterwinner at UNLV from 1996-2000, finished the six-round tournament with a 22-under par score, including a final-round 64 to cinch his place among the world's best. Anderson's 64 was the lowest score posted on the final day.
A three-time All-American at UNLV, Anderson holds a plethora of school records, including bests for career stroke average, single season stroke average, low round and low tournament scores. He helped the Rebels remain in the national limelight throughout his career, including playing on the school's 1998 national championship team.
"This is something I have dreamed about since I was eight or nine years old," Anderson said.
Anderson will be one of four former Rebels playing on next year's tour. Skip Kendall (1982-86), Edward Fryatt (1991-94) and Chris Riley (1992-96) all earned enough money last season to retain their tour cards.
