LOS ANGELES - Although the UNLV track and field team had the weekend off, two Rebels elected to compete at the Occidental Invitational on Sunday.
Sophomore sprinter Michele Davis won the 400 meters in 52.86, 0.12 seconds better than her previous best. She has already provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championships in that event and her new time ranks 13th in the nation. She also ranks 10th nationally in the 200 meters and heads into this weekend's Mountain West Conference Outdoor Championships as the favorite to win both events.
Junior pole vaulter Charlotte McGee continued to raise the UNLV standard in the event. Again, she broke her own school record, clearing 11-4.25 to finish tied for 10th overall. She has improved her mark nearly one full foot since the season began and currently ranks sixth in the Mtn. West this season.
The Rebels, who finished second at last year's WAC Championships, will be competing at the inaugural Mountain West Championships in Provo, Utah from Wednesday, May 17-Saturday, May 20.
