UNLV HEAD COACH ROD SOESBE: He is in his 16th season at UNLV and concluded his fourth as head coach. His career record is 106-122 (.465). Rod was named as the fourth head coach in UNLV baseball history on Sept. 10, 1996. He spent 12 seasons as the top assistant coach to Fred Dallimore. He came to UNLV in 1985 and served as the team's hitting instructor, working with the infielders and third base coach. In the summer of 1999, he had the distinction of serving as an assistant coach of the USA Baseball National Team under Texas A&M head coach Mark Johnson. Soesbe spent six years at Yavapai College (Prescott, Ariz.) from 1978-83 and was head coach at Lee College in Baytown, Texas, in 1984. He was twice named the Arizona Junior College "Coach of the Year" in 1978 and 1979. He was also named regional "Coach of the Year" for those two seasons.

RANKED OPPONENTS: UNLV played three ranked opponents during the 2000 season: vs. No. 3 UCLA (Feb. 11-13), at Cal State Fullerton (Feb. 18-20), at Clemson (March 3-5). UNLV is 2-7 vs. ranked opponents (1-2 vs. UCLA, 0-3 vs. Cal State Fullerton, vs. 1-2 vs. Clemson).

CLOSE GAMES: UNLV was 11-15 in games decided by three runs or less (5-9 in 1-run games, 6-4 in 2-run games, 0-2 in 3-run games). UNLV lost 7 of its 16 MWC games by three runs or less.

MWC PLAYER AND PITCHER OF WEEK: UNLV had a total of EIGHT MWC player or pitcher of the week honors this season. Players of the Week: Tony DeMarco (Feb. 16), Trent Kitsch on back-to-back weeks (April 10 and 17), Adam Manley (May 8). Pitchers of the Week: Luke Anderson (Feb. 1), Ryan Olson (April 10 and 24) and Andy McCulloch (April 17). UNLV also swept the MWC Player and Pitchers of the Week during a two-week stretch (April 10 and 17). UNLV also had two Lousivlle Slugger National Players of the Week: Ryan Olson (April 24) and Adam Manley (May 8).

UNLV PLAYER-BY-PLAYER NOTES:

LUKE ANDERSON: The junior right-hander appeared in 17 games (started 7) and had a 3-4 record with a 6.91 ERA. Pitched in 57.1 innings (single season career-high), allowed 86 hits, 57 runs, walked 19 and has struck out 60 (second on staff). He made his first collegiate start against Saint Mary's on Jan. 31. He had a strong outing and defeated the Gaels 3-1. He pitched 7.2 innings, allowed 2 hits, 1 run (0 earned), 1 walk and a career-high 11 strikeouts. He struck out six of the first seven batters and retired 13 straight batters from the third through the seventh innings. He was named the Mountain West Conference Pitcher of the Week (Feb. 1).

He made his second start against Southern Utah on Feb. 5. He pitched 3.2 innings, allowed 7 hits, 7 runs (6 earned) and lost 11-7. He suffered his second loss of the season against then-No. 3 UCLA on Feb. 13. Pitched 5.1 innings, allowed 9 hits, 5 runs, walked 2 and struck out 3. He lost to then-No. 5 Cal State Fullerton 7-3 on Feb. 19. He pitched 5.2 innings, allowed 9 hits, 7 runs, walked 2 and struck out 5. He defeated Michigan State 10-4 in the Coors Desert Classic on Feb. 26. Pitched 5.2 innings, allowed 11 hits, 4 runs, walked 3 and struck out 6. He pitched 1.2 innings in relief against BYU on March 10. He allowed 4 hits and 1 run.

He recorded his third victory of the season against Southern Utah on March 15. He pitched 5 innings, allowed 7 hits, 3 runs, walked 1 and struck out 5 (UNLV W 11-4). He pitched one scoreless inning in relief against New Mexico on March 26. He pitched the final two innings in relief against San Diego State in UNLV's 8-3 victory on April 9. Allowed 1 hit, no runs and struck out 3 and retired the final six batters he faced. Pitched 1.1 innings against Southern Colorado on April 19. Allowed 2 hits and 3 unearned runs. Had a solid relief performance against Utah on April 21. Pitched 3.2 innings, allowed 1 hit (solo HR), walked 1 and struck out 7.

Pitched 2.2 innings, allowed 4 runs (3 earned) and struck out 3 against New Mexico on April 30. He made his seventh start against Air Force on May 7. He had a no decision and pitched 3.2 innings and allowed 8 runs (5 earned). Pitched 2 innings, allowed 7 hits and 5 runs (1 earned) against San Diego State on May 13. Suffered the loss against Air Force on May 18 in the MWC Tournament. Pitched 4 innings, allowed 6 hits, 3 runs and struck out 6 (L 13-11).

BRAD BEASLEY: The junior catcher/designated hitter appeared in 28 games and batted .282 (24-for-85) with 3 home runs and 22 RBI. He was 2-for-4 with a double and 2 RBI against Southern Utah on Feb. 4. He hit a pinch-hit solo home run to right field against Southern Utah on Feb. 5. He was 1-for-3 against then-No. 3 UCLA on Feb. 12. He was 1-for-2 with 1 run scored against then-No. 5 Cal State Fullerton on Feb. 19. He was 1-for-5 with 1 RBI against Michigan State in the Coors Desert Classic on Feb. 26. He was 1-for-2 with 1 RBI (sacrifice fly) against then-No. 8 Clemson on March 4. He was 1-for-5 against Southern Utah on March 15. He was 1-for-4 with a run scored against San Diego State on April 8. Batted .375 (3-for-8) with 6 RBI in the BYU series (April 13-15).

He was 2-for-4 with his first career grand slam and a career best 5 RBI against the Cougars on April 13. Batted .500 (4-for-8) in the Utah series (April 20-22). HAROLD BETTS: The senior catcher appeared in 41 games and batted .271 (36-for-133) with 13 doubles, 6 home runs and 23 RBI. He batted .455 (5-for-11) in the Southern Utah series (Feb. 4-5). He was 3-for-6 with 1 RBI on Feb. 4 and 2-for-5 on Feb. 5. He was 1-for-5 with a solo home run and 2 RBI against then-No. 3 UCLA on Feb. 11 and 2-for-4 with a two-run HR against the Bruins on Feb. 13.

He was 1-for-4 with 2 RBI against Santa Clara in the Coors Desert Classic on Feb. 24 and 1-for-3 against UNR on Feb. 25. He was 2-for-4 against Oregon State in the Coors Desert Classic on Feb. 26. He was 2-for-4 with a triple against then-No. 8 Clemson on March 3. He was 1-for-4 with a double against BYU on March 10. He was 2-for-4 with a double and 1 RBI against Southern Utah on March 15. He was 1-for-5 with a double against Utah on March 18. He was 1-for-4 with a double against New Mexico on March 25. He was 0-for-2 with 2 bases on balls against San Diego State on April 9. Batted .500 (3-for-6) in the BYU series (April 13-15). He was 2-for-5 with 1 RBI (April 14) and 1-for-1 with 1 RBI (April 15).

He was 1-for-4 with a two-run double against Southern Colorado on April 19. He was 1-for-1 with a double, three bases on balls and 2 runs scored against Utah on April 21. He batted .429 (6-for-14) with 3 home runs and 8 RBI in the Air Force series (May 5-7). His two-run home run rallied UNLV to a come-from-behind 6-4 victory on May 5, 2-for-4 with 3 runs scored on May 6 and hit his first career grand slam against the Falcons to cap off a 13-run third inning on May 7. He was 2-for-4 against San Diego State on May 14. He was 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and 2 RBI against San Diego State on May 17 in the MWC Tournament.

JARED BONNELL: The freshman right-hander appeared in 10 games and was 1-2 with a 4.64 ERA. Has pitched in 21.1 innings, allowed 23 hits, 22 runs (11 earned) and struck out 13. He suffered the loss against Saint Mary's in his first collegiate appearance on Jan. 29. Pitched 1.1 innings and allowed 4 runs (1 earned). He pitched a scoreless ninth inning against Southern Utah on Feb. 5.

He had a good performance in his first collegiate start against Lewis-Clark State on Feb. 15. Pitched 5 innings, allowed 5 hits, 3 runs, walked 2 and struck out 2. He suffered the loss against the Warriors (LCS 10-1). He pitched 2.1 scoreless innings in relief against No. 5 Cal State Fullerton on Feb. 19. He pitched 3.2 innings in his second start (no decision) against Southern Colorado on April 19.

He allowed 5 hits, 4 runs (3 earned), walked 1 and struck out 5. He pitched two-thirds of an inning and allowed 2 unearned runs against UNR on April 25. Recorded his first collegiate victory against Air Force on May 7. He pitched 3.1 innings and allowed 3 hits and 4 runs (2 earned). He retired the first seven batters he faced. He pitched 2.1 innings, allowed 1 hit and 2 unearned runs against San Diego State on May 13.

JOHN CRUZ: The freshman outfielder appeared in 56 games and batted .260 (51-for-196) with 40 runs scored and the team-leader with 10-for-15 in stolen bases. Team-leader with 18 hit by pitches which set the UNLV single season school record. He was 2-for-5 in his first collegiate game against Saint Mary's on Jan. 29. He batted .429 (3-for-7) in the Southern Utah series (Feb. 4-5). He was 2-for-2 with 3 RBI against the T-Birds on Feb. 5.

He was 1-for-5 with 1 stolen base against then-No. 3 UCLA on Feb. 11. He was 2-for-3 against Lewis-Clark State on Feb. 15. He was 1-for-4 with 1 run scored against then-No. 5 Cal State Fullerton on Feb. 18. He was 3-for-5 with 1 RBI against Santa Clara in the Coors Desert Classic on Feb. 24 and 1-for-3 against West Virginia on Feb. 27. He was 2-for-4 with 1 RBI against BYU on March 11. He was 2-for-5 with 1 RBI against Southern Utah on March 15. He batted .375 (3-for-8) in the Utah series (March 17-19). He had a six-game hitting streak (March 11-24) and batted .421 (8-for-19) over that stretch. He was 1-for-2 against New Mexico (March 24) and 1-for-3 against the Lobos (March 26).

He was 1-for-2 with a bunt single and 1 run scored against Air Force on April 2. He was 0-for-1 with 2 hit by pitches and 2 runs scored against San Diego State on April 7. He was 2-for-5 with a stolen base against San Diego State on April 9. He was 2-for-6 in each of the last two games against BYU on April 14 and 15. Drove in 2 runs and had a stolen base against the Cougars on April 14. He was 1-for-4 with a double and a HBP against Utah on April 22.

He was 1-for-4 with a hit by pitch against UNR on April 25. He was 2-for-4 against New Mexico on April 28 and missed his first game of the season against the Lobos on April 30 with a right shoulder injury. Returned to the lineup and batted .368 (7-for-19) with 10 runs scored in the Air Force series (May 5-7). He was 2-for-6 with 4 runs scored (May 5), 2-for-4 with 2 RBI (May 6), 1-for-2 with 2 HBP, 2 RBI and 3 runs scored (May 7). Batted .375 (6-for-16) in the San Diego State series (May 12-14). He was 2-for-5 (May 13) and 3-for-6 (May 14).

He batted .250 (2-for-8) in the MWC Tournament (May 17-18) and was 1-for-4 against SDSU (May 17) and Air Force (May 18). Excellent defensive outfielder and fielded .986 and has committed only 2 errors.

TONY DeMARCO: The senior first baseman/designated hitter appeared in 37 games and batted .338 (48-for-142). Had 11 doubles, 5 home runs and 36 RBI. He was 3-for-5 with a 2-run home run against Saint Mary's on Jan. 29. He was 3-for-5 with a solo home run and 2 RBI against Southern Utah on Feb. 4. He also scored a career-high 5 runs. Batted .615 (8-for-13) with 8 RBI in the UCLA series (Feb. 11-13).

He was 5-for-5 with 5 runs scored, 3 doubles, a three-run HR and a career-high 8 RBI against then-No. 3 UCLA on Feb. 11. He was named the Mountain West Conference Player of the Week (Feb. 15). He was 1-for-2 with 2 RBI against Lewis-Clark State on Feb. 16. Batted .455 (10-for-22) with 9 RBI in the Coors Desert Classic (Feb. 24-27). He was 5-for-5 (for second time this season) with 3 RBI against Santa Clara (Feb. 24), 2-for-4 with 2 RBI against Michigan State (Feb. 26), 2-for-4 with 2 RBI against Oregon State (Feb. 26).

He was 1-for-4 against then-No. 8 Clemson on March 4. Batted .417 (5-for-12) in the BYU series (March 9-11). He was 3-for-4 against BYU on March 9 and 2-for-4 with 2 runs scored on March 11. He batted .583 (7-for-12) in the Utah series (March 17-19). He was 3-for-4 with two solo home runs on March 17, 2-for-4 with 2 RBI on March 18, 2-for-4 with 1 RBI on March 19. He batted .333 (4-for-12) in the New Mexico series (March 24-26). He had a season-high 8-game hitting streak (March 11-26) and batted .412 (14-for-34) over that stretch.

He was injured on the first play of the game against San Diego State on April 7 and missed the remainder of the series with a hyperextended left elbow. He missed 19 games and returned to the lineup against San Diego State on May 12. He was a pinch-hitter and was hit by a pitch. He started at first base against the Aztecs on May 14 and was 3-for-5. He was 1-for-4 with 3 RBI against San Diego State on May 17 in the MWC Tournament. Compiled 61 multiple-hit games (14 in 2000 season), which included: 36 two-hit games, 17 three-hit games, 4 four-hit games, 4 five-hit games. Appeared in 133 career games and batted .369 (200-for-541), which ranks fourth in UNLV history.

JUSTIN FAIRBANKS: The senior right-hander appeared in 14 games (started 11) and had a 2-3 record with a 5.93 earned run average. Pitched 54.2 innings, allowed 69 hits, 46 runs (36 earned), walked 21 and has struck out 29. He made his first appearance of the season against then-No. 5 Cal State Fullerton on Feb. 20. He pitched 2 innings and allowed 2 runs. His second start came against Oregon State in the Coors Desert Classic on Feb. 26. He pitched 5 solid innings and allowed 1 run in a no decision.

He pitched 5 innings against then-No. 8 Clemson on March 4. He lost 5-3 and allowed 3 hits, 3 runs (1 earned), walked 2 and struck out 4. He had another no decision against BYU on March 11. He pitched 5 innings, allowed 7 hits and 6 runs (2 earned). He suffered the loss at Utah on March 19. He pitched 4 innings, allowed 6 hits, 6 runs (5 earned), walked 1 and struck out 1. He made his first relief appearance of the season against New Mexico on March 25. He pitched 3.1 innings, allowed 3 hits, 2 runs (1 earned) and struck out 2.

He recorded his first victory of the season against San Diego State on April 9. Pitched a season-high 7 innings, allowed 10 hits, 3 runs, walked 1 and struck out a season-high 5 batters. He retired the side in the second and sixth innings and retired 10 of 12 batters from the fourth through the seventh innings. He had a no decision against BYU on April 15. He pitched 2.1 innings, allowed 4 hits, 6 runs and walked 4. He had another no decision against Utah on April 21. Pitched 2.1 innings, allowed 6 hits, 4 runs, walked 3 and struck out 2. He pitched his best game of the season against UNR on April 25.

He pitched 7 solid innings, allowed 4 hits, 1 run, walked 1 and struck out 3. He retired 16 of 18 batters (from 1 - 6 innings) and retired the side in order in the second, third and fifth innings. He pitched three innings in relief and allowed 1 run and struck out 2 against New Mexico on April 30. He had a no decision against Air Force on May 6. Pitched 5.2 innings, allowed 8 hits, 5 runs, walked 3 and struck out 3. UNLV rallied for a 7-6 victory. He pitched 1.2 scoreless innings and allowed 1 hit against San Diego State on May 14 (UNLV W 8-7). Had a no decision against Air Force on May 18 in the MWC Tournament. Pitched 1.1 innings, allowed 5 hits and 6 runs.

MICHAEL FORD: The junior outfielder appeared in 23 games and batted .386 (22-for-57). Batted .429 (3-for-7) as a pinch-hitter. He was 2-for-3 against Saint Mary's on Jan. 31. He was out of action for three weeks with a broken right hand.

Returned to action against then-No. 5 Cal State Fullerton on Feb. 19. He was 1-for-1 as a pinch-hitter against UNR in the Coors Desert Classic on Feb. 25. He was 1-for-4 with 1 RBI against then-No. 8 Clemson on March 4. He batted .600 (3-for-5) in the BYU series (March 9-11). He was 2-for-4 with 2 runs scored on March 11. He was 1-for-3 with 2 runs scored against Utah on March 18. He was 1-for-4 against New Mexico on March 26.

He was 0-for-2 with a walk and a run scored against Air Force on April 2. He was 2-for-3 with 2 stolen bases and 1 RBI against San Diego State on April 9. He was 2-for-3 with 1 RBI and 3 runs scored against Southern Colorado on April 19. Had a key bunt single in the eighth inning to rally UNLV to a 9-8 victory. He was a season-high 4-for-5 with a double and 1 RBI against Utah on April 22. Batted .571 (4-for-7) in the New Mexico series (April 28-30). He was 3-for-5 against the Lobos on April 29.

CHAD HARRIS: The sophomore left-hander appeared in 11 games and had a 0-1 record with a 4.72 ERA. Has pitched 13.1 innings, allowed 16 hits and 10 runs. Pitched one scoreless inning each against Saint Mary's (Jan. 30) and Southern Utah (Feb. 4). He allowed 1 run in 1 inning against then-No. 3 UCLA on Feb. 12. He suffered his first defeat against West Virginia in the Coors Desert Classic on Feb. 27.

He pitched 3.1 innings, allowed 7 hits and 5 runs (3 earned). Pitched 1.2 scoreless innings and allowed 1 hit against Utah on April 22. He pitched 1.1 scoreless innings against New Mexico on April 28. Pitched 2 innings against Air Force on May 5 in UNLV's 21-6 victory. Allowed 3 hits, 1 run and struck out 3. Pitched 1 inning and allowed 1 unearned run against San Diego State on May 13.

NATE KAUP: The senior outfielder appeared in 56 games and was the team's third-leading hitter with a .355 average (77-for-217). Had 7 home runs and led the team in four other categories: doubles (20), RBI (42, tied), at bats (217), hits (77). He batted .400 (4-for-10) in the Saint Mary's series (Jan. 29-31). He was 2-for-3 with 2 doubles on Jan. 29. Batted .667 (6-for-9) in the Southern Utah series (Feb. 4-5). He was a career-high 5-for-5 with 8 RBI against Southern Utah on Feb. 4. Had 2 doubles, a three-run first inning home run and 4 runs scored.

Had a string of 7 consecutive hits (Jan. 31 - Feb. 5), which ranks second in UNLV history. Batted .467 (7-for-15) in the UCLA series (Feb. 11-13). He was 4-for-6 with a double, home run and 3 RBI (Feb. 11) and 3-for-5 (Feb. 13). Batted .455 (5-for-11) in the Cal State Fullerton series (Feb. 18-20). He was 3-for-4 against then-No. 5 Titans on Feb. 18. He was 1-for- 3 against UNR in the Coors Desert Classic on Feb. 25. He was 2-for-4 against BYU on March 10 and drove in two runs against the Cougars (FC, groundout) on March 11. He was 3-for-5 with a home run and 2 RBI against Southern Utah on March 15. He batted .500 (4-for-8) in the Utah series (March 17-19). He had two 2-for-4 games (March 17-18) and three straight multiple-hit games. He was 2-for-4 with 1 RBI against New Mexico on March 25. Batted .435 (10-for-23) over a six-game stretch (March 15-26). Batted .364 (4-for-11) with 4 RBI in the San Diego State series (April 7-9). Batted .357 (5-for-14) in the Utah series (April 20-22). He was 2-for-5 in the last two games (April 21-22). Hit safely in a career-high 11 straight games (batted .354, 17-for-48) from April 7-22. Batted .364 (4-for-11) in the New Mexico series (April 28-30). He was 2-for-4 with 1 RBI (April 28) and 2-for-4 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI (April 30). He was 3-for-5 with 4 runs scored and 3 RBI (May 5) and 3-for-5 with a three-run HR and 4 RBI (May 7). He was 2-for-5 against San Diego State on May 13. TRENT KITSCH: The junior first baseman/designated hitter appeared in 50 games and batted .327 (52-for-159) and team-leader with 13 home runs and 38 RBI (third on team). Batted .333 (4-for-12) in the Saint Mary's series (Jan. 29-31). He was 2-for-4 with 2 RBI in UNLV's 3-1 victory over Saint Mary's on Jan. 31. He was 2-for-4 with 2 runs scored against Southern Utah on Feb. 4. Batted .417 (5-for-12) in the UCLA series (Feb. 11-13). He was 2-for-5 with 2 home runs (a two-run and three-run HR) for 5 RBI against then-No. 3 UCLA on Feb. 11. He was 2-for-3 with 1 RBI against the Bruins on Feb. 12. He was 2-for-3 with 1 RBI against Lewis-Clark State on Feb. 16. Batted .476 (10-for-21) in the Coors Desert Classic (Feb. 24-27).

He was 4-for-5 with 4 runs scored against Santa Clara (Feb. 24), 2-for-4 against UNR (Feb. 25), 2-for-4 with 2 RBI against Michigan State (Feb. 26). He was 1-for-4 against then-No. 8 Clemson on March 4. He hit a pinch-hit solo home run against Southern Utah on March 15. He was 1-for-2 with 2 walks and 2 runs scored against New Mexico on March 25. He enjoyed an outstanding series against San Diego State (April 7-9). Batted .583 (7-for-12) with 7 runs scored, 3 home runs and 6 RBI. He hit one home run in each of the three games. He was 2-for-4, double, two-run HR and 3 RBI (April 7), 4-for-4 with 3 runs scored and a solo HR (April 8), 1-for-4 with a two-run HR (April 9). He was named the Mountain West Conference Player of the Week (April 10).

Continued his torrid hitting in the BYU series, batted .571 (8-for-14) with 8 RBI. He was 4-for-5 with 4 runs scored, 2 home runs (HR in fourth straight game) and 4 RBI on April 13, 2-for-5 (April 14) and 2-for-4 with a three-run double to help lead UNLV to a 13-11 victory over BYU on April 15. He was named the Mountain West Conference Player of the Week (April 17) for the second consecutive week. Batted .571 (4-for-7) in the Southern Colorado series (April 18-19). Had a season-high 10-game hitting streak (March 24 - April 19) and batted .576 (19-for-33) over a eight-game stretch (April 7-19).

He was 1-for-2 with his 11th home run and 2 RBI against Utah on April 22. He was 1-for-1 with his team-leading 12th home run (a two-run shot) against Air Force on May 7. He was 1-for-1 and reached bases all five times (3BB, 1HBP) against San Diego State on May 12 and was 1-for-3 with 1 RBI (May 14). Batted .333 (2-for-6) in the MWC Tournament (May 17-18). He was 1-for-3 with a solo HR against San Diego State (May 17) and 1-for-3 with 3 RBI against Air Force (May 18). Hit safely in 29 of 50 games and had 16 multiple-hit games.

BRAD MALOFF: The junior shortstop/third baseman appeared in 45 games and batted .222 (32-for-144) with 8 doubles and 17 RBI. Team-leader with 15 sacrifice hits. Recorded a solid defensive game in his UNLV debut at third base against Lewis-Clark State on Feb. 15. Had 6 assists and was 0-for-1 with 3 bases on balls. He was 2-for-4 with 2 runs scored against the Warriors on Feb. 16. He batted .250 (3-for-12) in the Cal State Fullerton series and was 1-for-4 in each game.

ANDY McCULLOCH: **All-Mountain West Second Team Relief Pitcher** The senior right-hander appeared in 22 games (second on staff) and had a 1-4 record with 8 saves (13 career, tied for second in UNLV history) and a team-leading 1.52 ERA. Pitched 29.2 innings, allowed 25 hits, 12 runs, walked 14 and struck out 18. He recorded his first save against Saint Mary's on Jan. 31. He pitched 1.1 scoreless innings and struck out 3 in UNLV's 3-1 victory.

Pitched 2.1 scoreless innings in relief against then-No. 3 UCLA on Feb. 13. Pitched 1 inning and allowed 2 hits and 1 run in UNLV's 4-3 loss to Oregon State in the Coors Desert Classic on Feb. 26. He pitched 1.2 scoreless innings against West Virginia on Feb. 27. He recorded his first victory of the season against then-No. 8 Clemson (UNLV W 4-3) on March 5. He defeated Southern Utah 19-5 on Feb. 4 in his second start.

He was 4-for-4 with 3 RBI against Santa Clara (Feb. 24), 2-for-3 with 2 RBI and his first collegiate home run, a two-run shot, (to give UNLV a 5-4 lead) against Michigan State on Feb. 26. He was 1-for-4 with 1 RBI against then-No. 8 Clemson on March 5. He was 1-for-2 against BYU on March 9. He made his first start of the season at third base against Utah on March 19. He batted .375 (3-for-8) in the New Mexico series (March 24-26). He was 2-for-4 against the Lobos on March 26. He was 1-for-3 with 1 RBI against San Diego State on April 8 and 1-for-4 with a two-run single against the Aztecs on April 9. Batted .583 (7-for-12) in the BYU series (April 13-15). He was 2-for-4 (April 13), 3-for-5 (April 14) and 2-for-3 with 2 RBI (April 15).

He was 1-for-3 against Southern Colorado on April 18. Batted .375 (3-for-8) in the Utah series (April 20-22). He was 2-for-3 with a double and 2 runs scored against UNR on April 25. Batted .333 (3-for-9) in the New Mexico series (April 28-30). He was 1-for-2 with a two-run home run on April 29. He was 2-for-5 with a two-run home run and season-high 4 RBI against Air Force in UNLV's 13-3 victory on May 6.

He was 2-for-2 with three walks and a 2-run home run against San Diego State on May 12. Batted .500 (3-for-6) in the MWC Tournament (May 17-18). He was 2-for-4 against San Diego State (May 17) and 1-for-2 with a two-run home run against Air Force (May 18). Hit safely in 14 out of his last 16 games and 36 of 51 games.

DONNIE WATTS: The freshman right-hander appeared in 13 games and had a 0-0 record with a 6.97 ERA. Pitched 31 innings, allowed 40 hits, 28 runs and has struck out 17. He pitched 3.1 innings in relief and allowed 3 runs against Lewis-Clark State on Feb. 15. He pitched 3 innings and allowed 1 run against Santa Clara in the Coors Desert Classic on Feb. 24.

He pitched 3 scoreless innings against BYU on March 9. He had another strong relief outing against New Mexico on March 24. He pitched 5 innings, allowed 7 hits, 3 runs, walked 1 and struck out a season-high 6 batters. Pitched 3 innings in relief against BYU on April 15. Allowed 2 hits, 5 runs (3 earned), walked 3 and struck out 2.

He pitched 2.1 innings against Southern Colorado on April 19. Allowed no hits, walked 2 and 1 run. Pitched 1 inning against Utah on April 22. Allowed 3 hits and 2 runs. Pitched 1 inning and allowed 2 hits and 4 runs against New Mexico on April 28. Pitched 2 innings, allowed 2 hits and 1 run against San Diego State on May 13.
