LAS VEGAS - The UNLV swim team dominated the UNLV Fall Invitational over the weekend. The Rebels won 20 events, competing against four club teams: Sandpipers, Desert Storms, Raisin Country Aquatics (CA) and Boulder City Aquatics.
For the men, Jacint Simon captured four events, the 100 free (46.89), 200 free (1:40.42), 500 free (4:37.27) and 1000 free (9:30.68). Andrew Livingston followed with three event victories in the 100 fly (49.82), 200 fly (1:47.61) and 200 IM (1:54.24). Freshman Michael Day won both the 100 (53.87) and 200 (1:55.71) backstroke events, while senior transfer Ramzy Ladah won the 200 breast (2:09.32).
On the women's side, Lorena Diaconescu picked up victories in five events, winning the 100 free (52.50), 200 free (1:52.95), 500 free (4:58.44), 200 IM (2:05.61) and 100 back (59.52). Fellow Romanian Madalina Tin won the 50 free (24.67), 100 breast (1:06.10), and 200 breast (2:24.01). Freshman Tamee Ebert won the 1000 free (10:11.44) and sophomore Julie Unrau won the 100 fly (59.22).
UNLV begins the dual-meet season on November 3 when they host the University of Toronto at 2 p.m.
