Men's Swimming Takes UCI In Dual Meet Competition

LAS VEGAS - The UNLV men's swim team dominated Saturday night in a 197-95 dual meet victory over UC-Irvine.

The Rebels took the top three spots in three different events against the Anteaters. Andrew Livingston, Tommy Zauder and Quinten Allen went 1-2-3 in the 200 free. Livingston won in a time of 1:42.52.

UNLV controled the 100 free with Zauder finishing first in 46.95. Bjorn Erickson finished second (47.30) and Andy Kapchinske took third (47.66).

The team also took the top three spots in the 100 fly. David Schick finished first (50.00), followed by Michael Day (51.14) and Michael Short (52.15).

Jacint Simon and Kevin Williams went 1-2 in the 1000 free, with Simon finishing in 9:36.05. Simon also won the 500 free in 4:35.40. Paul Valen took second in 4:40.91.

Quincy Schmidt won the 100 breast in 57.62, followed closely by Ramzy Ladah who finished in 57.91. Schmidt also won the 200 IM in 1:56.58.

Michael Day won the 200 fly in 1:51.05, while Michael Short took the 50 free in 20.80.

Lucas Richmond won the men's 3-meter dive, scoring 253.90 points.

UNLV also took the top two spots in both the 200 and 400 medley relays.

The Rebels get two weeks off before hosting the Mountain West Invitational Nov. 30-Dec. 1 at the Buchanan Natatorium.
