LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) - Dalron Johnson made a last-second 3-pointer to push UNLV past Wyoming 80-78 on Monday.

The upset ended the Cowboys' six-game Mountain West Conference winning streak and eight-game - and more than year-old - streak at the Arena-Auditorium.

The teams slugged it out in the final three minutes. Wyoming (15-5, 6-2 conference) gained a 74-73 lead with 2:37 left on six unanswered points followed by a basket by Joe Ries.

The Rebels (13-9, 4-3 conference) regained the lead twice more, the second time on a rebounded-in field goal by Johnson with 30 seconds left.

Marcus Bailey put Wyoming ahead 78-77 with eight seconds left, then Johnson made the 3-pointer with barely more than a second left.

Johnson finished with 20 points to lead UNLV, followed by 19 from Kaspars Kambala, 13 by Sylvester Dotson and 11 from Trevor Diggs.

Josh Davis led the Cowboys with 28 points. Bailey added 21.

UNLV led most of the second half, gaining a 53-51 advantage before widening the gap to 70-60 with 8:30 left.

The Cowboys entered the second half ahead 42-40 after Chris McMillian made two free throws and snapped the tie.

In the last couple minutes of the first half, Wyoming scrambled ahead 34-32 on a basket by Bailey. Then two field goals by Diggs and one by Kambala gave UNLV a 38-34 lead with 4:00 on the clock.

Wyoming dominated early on, leading by as much as 21-14, but three baskets by Dotson and one by Lou Kelly put the Rebels in the game with a 25-24 lead.
