KINGS POINT, NY - Lorena Diaconescu finished 46th in the 500 freestyle trials at the NCAA Championships held at the US Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, NY. It is the first of three events for the junior from Bucharest, Romania. Diaconescu will also compete in both the 100 and 200 freestyle events over the next two days.

Diaconescu finished the 500 free in a time of 4:56.56, 7.03 seconds off her best time of the season (4:49.53). Only the top eight in each event advance to the championship finals with the following eight advancing to the consolation finals.

Diaconescu will compete in the 200 freestyle trial on Friday morning and the 100 freestyle trial on Saturday.
