COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Four UNLV swimmers competed in the first day of the 2001 NCAA Division I Men's Swimming & Diving Championship in College Station, Texas.
In the 200 free relay, the team of Piotr Krzyskow, Jacint Simon, Garrett Wood and Andrew Livingston finished 17th in a time of 1:20.91. Only the top sixteen advance to this evening's finals. The team is, however, the first alternate should one team not compete.
Jacint Simon clocked his best time of the season in the 500 free at 4:29.17, placing him 37th. His best time heading into the NCAA's was 4:29.19.
Piotr Krzyskow took 32nd in the 50 free in a time of 20.17. His season-best time of 19.84 would have placed him in a tie for 14th.
Simon and Livingston will also compete in tomorrow's preliminaries. Livingston will compete in the 100 fly, while Simon will swim the 200 free.
