LAS VEGAS - Five Rebels have earned a trip to the 2001 NCAA Swimming Championships.
Lorena Diaconescu, a junior from Bucharest, Romania, will participate in three different freestyle events in next week's competition. Diaconescu qualified in the 100 free (49.43), 200 free (1:46.59) and 500 free (4:49.53). She is the No. 8 seed in the 200 free and the No. 11 seed in the 100 free.
The women compete from March 15-17 at the Nassau County Aquatic Center in Long Island, N.Y.
UNLV's Piotr Krzyskow, Andrew Livingston, Jacint Simon and Garrett Wood will all participate in the men's championship.
Piotr Krzyskow qualified in the 50 free (19.84), 100 free (43.69) and the 100 butterfly (48.48). He is the No. 12 seed in the 100 free and the No.14 seed in the 50 free
Andrew Livingston earned a spot in two events, the 200 fly (1:44.39) and the 100 butterfly (48.73). He is seeded eighth in the 200 fly.
Jacint Simon earned spots in the 200 and 500 freestyles. Simon is seeded tenth in the 200 free (1:36.27) and sixteenth in the 500 free (4:21.19).
Garrett Wood also earned a spot in two events, the 50 free (19.92) and the 100 free (44.85).
Men's competition will take place from March 22-24 at the Rec. Natatorium in College Station, Texas.
