The Mountain West Conference announced the 2001 Academic All-Conference team for men's and women's swimming and diving on Tuesday. To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have completed at least one academic term at the member institution, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better and be a starter or significant contributor to the team.
A total of 146 student-athletes earned MWC academic honors in 2000-01, including 24 Rebels (ten women and 14 men). Ari Berlin, Christopher Braun, Andrew Kapchinske, Piotr Krzyskow, Lucas Richmond, Michael Schmidt, David Schick, Quincy Schmidt, Michael Short, Jacint Simon, Paul Valen, Laurens Vosloo, Doug Wake and Kevin Williams were honored on the men's side, while Lee Cofer, Sabrina Ferrari, Megan Merchant, Hailey Nance, Dana Penn, Alyson Noble, Allison Reynolds, Jennifer Robison, Julie Unrau and Anna Zehnder where all named to the women's side.
