Aug. 17, 2001

LAS VEGAS - UNLV senior Andrew Livingston won the 200 butterfly at the 2001 Phillips 66 Summer Nationals on Wednesday, August 15 in Fresno, Calif. It is the first United States national championship for the former Olympian and three-time All-American.

Livingston beat Atlantis Aquatics Andrew Mahoney by two-tenths of a second (1:58.08 - 1:58.38).

"It is great to have one our kids do so well," said UNLV head swimming coach Jim Reitz. "Andrew usually represents Puerto Rico in world competition, and it is nice for him to finally have a U.S. championship to his credit."

Livingston will next compete August 23-29 at the World University Games in Beijing, China.
