COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Mountain West Conference announced its 2001 Academic All-Conference team for men's and women's track and field Thursday.
Seven members of the UNLV women's track and field team were among the 207 conference student-athletes participating in the sport, who were recognized for their classroom accomplishments for the 2000-01 season.
Rebels Andrea Azzara (Fr., Throws, 3.85, Hotel Administration), Amber Baker (Fr., Pole Vault, 3.09, Undeclared), Katie Barto (Sr., Distance, 3.35, Biological Sciences), Charlotte Covington (Jr., Pole Vault, 3.41, Hotel Administration), Erin Dangerfield (So., Sprints, 3.23, Undeclared), Patrice Harvey (Fr., Hurdles/Jumps, 3.18, Undeclared) and Belisa Suarez (So., Jumps, 3.22, Hotel Administration) were selected and honored by the MWC.
To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have completed at least one academic term at the member institution, maintain a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or better and be a starter or significant contributor to the team.
