LAS VEGAS - The Harlem Globetrotters broke their 14-day training camp in Prescott, Ariz., on Wednesday with 30 players selected to wear the fabled red-white-and-blue uniforms of the Hall of Fame team. Among the new players to join the Ambassadors of Goodwill is former Runnin' Rebel Chris Richardson.

Richardson, a 6-6, 190-pound forward averaged 9.1 points per game and 5.3 rebounds per game for UNLV as a senior in 2001-02. He finished the season second on the team in rebounding, third in blocked shots (17), third in steals (43) and fourth in scoring. He led the Mountain West Conference in field goal percentage at .565 in 2001-02.

Richardson finished fourth in the slam-dunk competition at the annual College Slam Dunk and 3-Point Championships in Atlanta during the 2002 Final Four weekend. He played for UNLV for four years and appeared in 103 games during his college career, recording a career field goal percentage of .560 (210-for-375).

The Globetrotters will see action right away with a tour of Europe beginning Oct. 18 and the 2002 Fall College Tour starting Nov. 5 with a game at Purdue.

The 2002-03 North American Tour gets underway in late December. During the three-month tour, the Globetrotters will visit more than 200 cities in the U.S. and Canada through early April.
