LAS VEGAS - San Diego State's Oliver Maiberger needed three sets but still managed to repeat as singles champion at the 2002 Omni Hotels Mountain Region Men's Tennis Championships at the Fertitta Tennis Complex Sunday.
Top-seeded and eighth-ranked Maiberger dropped the first set but rebounded for a 2-6, 6-4, 6-3 win over New Mexico's seventh-seeded Bart Scott to earn his second regional singles title in as many years.
The doubles crown was earned Saturday when BYU's second-seeded Carlos Lozano and Erik Nyman outlasted Boise State's fourth-seeded Marcus Berntson and Guillaume Bouvier 9-7.
Both singles finalists and the winning doubles team earned a spot in the 2002 Omni Hotels National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships to be played November 7-10 in Dallas, Texas.
