Men's Swimming And Diving Capture Big West Shootout Title

IRVINE, Calif. - The UNLV men's swimming and diving team wrap up competition at the Big West Shootout in Irvine, Calif. with wins over UC-Irvine (66-47), Cal-Poly (94-11), Cal State Northridge (92-21) and Denver (91-23).

The women's swimming and diving team took a one point win over Cal-Santa Barbara (56-55), but fell to Pacific (74-37) and Wisconsin (76-35).

Highlighting the men's side, Jonathan Hugo out-touched Denver's Caleb Johnson in the 200 freestyle. Hugo finished in 1:44.37, while Johnson took second in 1:44.59.

Hugo also won the 100 free in 46.39. Teammates Quincy Schmidt and Joe Bartoch finished second and third respectively.

The Rebel men also won the 400 medley relay and 400 free relay.

Diver Tyler Wistisen won the men's 1-meter with a score of 246.85.

On the women's side, Alyson Noble won the 1650 free in 17:13.67, while Shayna Burns won the 200 breast in 2:22.21.

The Rebel women's diving team went 1-2-3 in the 3-meter. Nichole McLean won with a score of 252.90, while Jessica Field took second with 234.05 and Cheryl Runyan finished third with 199.50.
