TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - UNLV senior distance standout Jessica Zarndt (Las Vegas) clocked in a career best time of 21:34.60 to place 141st at the 2002 NCAA Cross Country Championships held Monday at the Wabash Valley Sports Center on the campus of host Indiana State University in Terre Haute, Ind.
Zarndt, a local native out of Cheyenne High School, is only the third women's cross country runner in school history to compete at nationals. Her previous career and season best time of 21:42.60 was accomplished at the 2002 Mountain West Conference Championships on Nov. 1.
North Carolina's Shalane Flanagan won the women's individual title in a time of 19:36.00, while BYU repeated as team champions. Zarndt finished 141st out of 254 participants at the national meet.
