Johnson Named MWC Player of the Week

Dec. 16, 2002

LAS VEGAS - UNLV senior forward Dalron Johnson has been named the Mountain West Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week after lifting the Runnin' Rebels to an 85-83 overtime victory on the road at Bradley on Saturday.

Johnson drained a 3-pointer from well beyond the arc with 0.5 seconds remaining in overtime to give UNLV the win. It was the second buzzer-beating game-winning 3-pointer of his career. He also hit one as time expired to give UNLV an 80-78 win at Wyoming on Feb. 5, 2001.

Johnson scored a season-high 26 points on 9-of-19 field goals at Bradley, including 5-of-6 3-pointers and 3-of-4 from the free throw line. He also grabbed nine rebounds, dished out three assists and blocked two shots.

This is Johnson's third player of the week honor of his career and UNLV's second of the season as Marcus Banks won on Dec. 2.

UNLV will be back in action on Tues., Dec. 17 as it hosts Tennessee-Martin at the Thomas & Mack Center at 7:30 p.m.
