Banks Wins Weekly Award

LAS VEGAS - UNLV senior guard Marcus Banks has been named the Mountain West Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week after leading the Runnin' Rebels (3-0) to victories over UAB (84-75) and Washington (81-62) last week.

Banks shot 59 percent from the field (17-of-29), including 5-of-8 (63 percent) from 3-point range, and averaged 22.0 points in the two games. He also grabbed 4.5 rebounds per game and averaged 3.5 assists and four steals.

In the win over UAB, Banks scored 30 points off of 11-of-18 field goals, 3-of-6 3-pointers, and went a perfect 5-for-5 from the free throw line. He also had six rebounds, dished out four assists and had five steals. Against Washington, Banks went 6-for-11 from the floor, including a perfect 2-for-2 from three-point land, for 14 points in 27 minutes of action. He also recorded three steals, three assists, three rebounds and a blocked shot.

This is Banks' third player of the week honor of his career.

UNLV will be back in action on Wed., Dec. 4, as it travels north to face the Wolf Pack of Nevada, Reno at 7:00 p.m. PST.
