RENO, Nev. - The UNLV women's indoor track and field team placed fifth with 42.25 points at the Wolf Pack Invitational hosted by intrastate rival Nevada, Reno.
Junior sprinter Nickeisha Charles (Arima, Trinidad) finished second in the 400 meters with a time of 58.63 seconds to contribute to the team scoring, while senior Michele Davis (Lansing, Mich.) clocked in a third-place time of 6.97 seconds in the 55 meters finals, just short of the NCAA provisional mark of 6.92.
The upperclassmen continued to lead the way for the Rebels, as junior Tianika Sharriff (Euless, Texas) finished in a four-way tie for second in the high jump with a mark of 1.68m (5'06.00), which tied a season and team best in the event.
In the 55 meter low hurdles, freshman Brigitte Ladouceur (Cayenne, French Guiana) placed fourth with a time of 8.50 seconds and junior co-captain Chantel Yates (Chattanooga, Tenn.) fifth with an 8.52.
The Rebels return to action on Saturday, Feb. 9 with 15 members of the team traveling to the University of Washington Invitational in Seattle at 9:30 a.m. and eight returning to Reno for the Bill Cosby Invitational at 9 a.m.
