Davis Races To Second Place at USA Indoors

NEW YORK - Among the nation's top young talent and world's best runners, UNLV senior sprinter Michele Davis finished second in the finals of the 400 meter dash at the 2002 USA Indoor Track and Field Championships held at the Armory Track & Field Center on 168th Street in Washington Heights.

Davis, a native of Lansing, Mich., clocked in a time of 53.19 seconds, which was also her first-place preliminary time on Friday. The two-time MWC Women's Indoor Athlete of the Year has already set a automatic qualifying time in the 400 meters for the 2002 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships on March 8-9 in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Monique Hennagan of Team adidas won the women's event with a time of 52.97 seconds. The USA Indoor Track and Field Championships will be televised on Sunday, March 3 from 1:00-2:30 p.m. (PST) on ESPN.
