LAS VEGAS - Sophomore Heather Harding and freshman Halima DeCree lead the Rebel women's track and field team after the first day of the UNLV Invitational held Friday at Myron Partridge Stadium / Sheila Tarr Smith Field.

Harding, a junior college transfer from Spokane, Wash., placed second in the hammer throw with a distance of 34.94 meters. She also finished third in the shot put with a toss of 12.17 meters. Freshman Randi Schmidt-Calabrese (Hamden, Conn.) threw a season best 30.46 meters to place fifth in the hammer throw event behind Harding.

A Bakersfield, Calif. native, DeCree took to the long jump for the first time this season and placed second with a leap of 5.37 meters. Freshman Angeline Gbahi (Ivory Coast, Africa), who competed unattached, placed second in the shot put with a toss of 13.88 meters.

Seton Hall currently leads the four-team field after claiming three first-place finishes after day one of competition. The two-day meet will conclude tomorrow with track and field events starting at 10 a.m.
