LAS VEGAS - Four Rebels claimed top finishes on the final day of the UNLV Track and Field Invitational held Saturday afternoon at Myron Partridge Stadium / Sheila Tarr Smith Field.
Freshman Brigitte Ladouceur (Cayenne, French Guiana) placed first in the 100 meter hurdles in a season best time of 13.83 seconds. Sophomore Christine Spence (Lee's Summit, Mo.) took top honors in the high jump with a leap of 1.70 meters. Spence also finished second in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:03.06.
In the javelin throw, UNLV finished one-two with sophomore transfer Casey Lektorich (Spokane, Wash.) leading the way for the Rebels with a toss of 41.46 meters and senior Jennifer Gardner (Tacoma, Wash.) following with a throw of 38.04 meters.
A pair of Las Vegas natives came out with strong showings. Sophomore Michele Muscato finished first in the pole vault soaring over the bar at 3.05 meters, while junior Jessica Zarndt placed second in the 3,000 meters in a time of 11:05.95.
Second-place finishes were also turned in by junior Tiffany Smith (Woodland Hills, Calif.) in the triple jump (11.56m), freshman Halima DeCree (Bakersfield, Calif.) in the 100 meters (11.80m) and sophomore Heather Harding (Spokane, Wash.) in the discus throw (36.00m).
Seton Hall would win 14 of the 18 events at the two-day event. Nolle Graham and Jana Burton were triple winners for the Pirates. Tufts University and Western State College rounded out the four-team field at the meet.
Up next, the Rebels will train through the Spring Break holiday and prepare for their home hosted UNLV Desert Classic on April 5-6.
