LAS VEGAS - UNLV tennis freshman Aviram Salomon earned his first career Mountain West Conference Men's Player of the Week Award, the league announced Wednesday.

The product of Jerusalem, Israel, went 2-0 in singles this week, including upsetting No. 82 Andrew Colombo of Auburn in straight sets Tuesday, 7-6, 6-2. He also won a doubles match vs. Drake with partner Romain Tug.

Salomon improved to 13-10 on the year in singles, including 8-4 in dual-match play this season.

He is the second UNLV men's player to earn the award this season as senior Thomas Schneiter won his first such honor February 21.

The 58th-ranked Rebels are back in action Friday when they host Air Force.

UNLV swept this week's awards as Lady Rebel junior Paulina Janus was honored for the second time this season.
