March 5, 2002

LAS VEGAS - The 58th-ranked UNLV men's tennis team played its first match since Feb. 17 and shook off the rust by not losing a set en route to a 7-0 win over Robert Morris at the Fertitta Tennis Complex Tuesday.

The Rebels improved to 3-2 overall and 3-0 at home this spring. The Colonials, who are members of the Northeast Conference, had not played a dual match since Oct. 21 and fell to 3-2 overall.

UNLV began the day by sweeping three doubles matches for one team point.

In singles play, 59th-ranked Thomas Schneiter downed John Hollis 6-2, 6-1 at the top spot. Also winning in straight sets were Thomas Michaud at No. 2, Aviram Salomon at No. 3, Romain Tug at No. 4, Leslie Eisinga at No. 5 and Andreas Maurer on the sixth court.

Up next for the Rebels is a trip to Corpus Christi, Texas, to play in the 16-team HEB Team Classic this weekend. UNLV will open play versus Alabama-Birmingham in Friday's first round.
