LAS VEGAS - Utah Valley State placed seven runners in the top 11 to claim first place in the UNLV Women's Cross Country Invitational, held on Saturday morning at Sunset Park in Las Vegas, Nev. The host Rebels, led by a second place finish from Michele Suszek, took third place overall in the five-team competition.
Suszek turned in a time of 18:48.03 for the 5k race to pace the UNLV runners. Sarah Loughlin was next for the Rebels in 14th place at 20:24.53, while Heather Walsh (15th, 20:43.59), Monica Matute (16th, 20:55.93), and Erin Hammond (17th, 21:04.49) followed to round out the five scores for UNLV.
Utah Valley State easily took first place with a 31 team score after taking first and sixth through ninth place. Cal State Dominguez Hills was second with 55 points, followed by UNLV in third with 64, and Modesto JC in fourth with 102. Golden West College had three runners compete, and did not receive a team score.
Ayisha Inusah of Utah Valley State claimed first place honors with a time of 18:42.40, while Cal State DH's Alejandra Contreras took third in 19:05.92.
