KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The UNLV women's golf team shot a first-round 303 and sits in ninth place after one round of the Mercedes-Benz Women's Championship at Fox Den Country Club on Sunday.
The Rebels are 12 strokes behind co-leaders Oklahoma State and the Swedish Junior National Team. Pernilla Lindberg of the Swedish Team has the individual lead after shooting 70 at the par-72, 6,201-yard course.
Leading the Rebels in the first round was junior Hwanhee Lee, who shot a two-over 74. Just a stroke off Lee's pace is sophomore Elena Kurokawa, who tossed in a 75. Matching 77s from freshman Seema Sadekar and sophomore Young Pak rounded out the Rebels' team score.
Sophomore All-American Sunny Oh's 78 was discarded from the team total.
